Gorilla habituation process takes approximately two to three years where gorillas are trained to be friendly to human beings. This activity is highly demanded by researchers and tourists who want to spend more hours with the gorillas.

Bwindi Gorilla habituation is carried out in southern Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park in Rushaga-Nkuringo sectors only two gorilla families and visitors are allowed to stay with the gorillas for 4 hours.  During the gorilla habitation process you will learn and understand the behavioral lifestyle patterns of the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and also participate in the naming of the gentle creatures.

Tourists looking for a lifetime Bwindi Gorilla Habituation experience should book as early as possible; about 6 months before the actual date especially in peak months of December to March, July and October due to high demand and limited permits with a maximum number of 4 visitors allowed for this activity per day at cost $1500 per person.

Bwindi gorilla habituation experience has the same rules as gorilla trekking activity however the difference comes from the time spent by visitors on both activities and the maximum number of people to visit a particular family.

Gorilla habituation experience in Africa is only done in Uganda’s in Bwindi forest national park which is home to almost half of the endangered mountain gorilla population remaining in the world.  Currently gorilla habituation is not done in Rwanda and Dr Congo.

After two to three years of this process, researchers will find out if the wild mountain gorilla have gotten used to human presence, a gorilla family will then be launched for gorilla trekking experience
