These fees were put in place by Uganda Wildlife Authority a government agency controlling and managing all national parks in Uganda. Entrance fees to Mount Elgon national park were put in place to help protect different attractions as well as pay workers within the park.

When visiting the national park, tourists and vehicles are charged accordingly. There are categories for foreign non-residents, foreign residents, and citizens of East African member states. There are also adults who are aged 15 years and above, and children between 5 to 15 years while those below 5 years don’t pay any fees.

Every person who wants to enter Mount Elgon national park must pay park entrance fees.
